Emergency Alert TEST
TEST of the Public Emergency Alert System on May 8 at 10:55 a.m.
Updated on
Current situation
An emergency alert test was issued to cellphones, television and radio at 10:55 a.m. (Pacific time) on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Emergency alerts are broadcast on TV, radio, and cell phones to provide urgent, life-saving information during emergencies.
This was the first test of the Government of Canada’s ability to issue alerts, and it was used to assess the system’s readiness for an actual emergency.
Do not call 9-1-1 for information about the test. Using 9-1-1 for non-emergency calls could delay help for people in crisis.
