A 6.4 magnitude earthquake occurred near Haida Gwaii. There is no tsunami threat to B.C. The earthquake was lightly felt on Haida Gwaii, northern Vancouver Island and parts of the North Coast, including Kitimat and Terrace. Drop, cover and hold on if you feel shaking.
An automatic Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) alert was sent for the event at 15:22 PDT on September 15, 2024. Natural Resources Canada reported that several aftershocks had been recorded.
